Committees & Their Areas of Focus:

  

Networking

  • Ambassadors: Welcoming new members and helping promote upcoming events and education at AAMD ( monthly)
  • Bowling Tournament: The AAMD Bowling Tournament is a networking favorite. In addition to the bowling games, attendees enjoy awards, prizes, food, drinks, music, and more  (monthly Nov - Feb)
  • Chili Cookoff: AAMD’s favorite family-friendly event where we celebrate the season of Fall and tasty Chili. The event features music, beverages, awards, a kid zone, and unsurpassed networking opportunities. (monthly, July - Oct)
  • Golf Tournament: The AAMD Golf Tournament Series provides some of the best networking opportunities for owner/management attendees and Sponsors to build valuable relationships while enjoying a round of Golf. The tournament series features two events, Ladies on the Links and Metro Masters. (monthly March - Aug)
  • June Awards - A celebration that recognizes the work and achievements of the AAMD leadership team over the past year, and also acts as the installation of the incoming president and newly appointed and elected leaders. (monthly Feb - June)

  • Maintenance Mania: Plans the day dedicated to our industry maintenance professionals that includes targeted education sessions, hands-on learning opportunities, networking with supplier-partner members, and maintenance-focused competitions. (monthly, Oct-Apr)
  • Member Services: Identifies and adds services that would be useful to AAMD Members. (quarterly)
  • Membership Development - Works to Grow and Maintain the membership of AAMD (monthly)

  • Tributes: planning for the quadrennial Tributes celebration (monthly during the event year, next event TBD)

Education:

  • Economic Conference - The combined Economic Conference and Business to Business Exchange provide a comprehensive outlook on the health and future of the industry and provide valuable one-on-one meetings for increased networking opportunities at the B2B Exchange. 

  • Education Conference & Trade Show: The largest multifamily conference in the region with a wide range of education programs for all levels, an inspiring keynote, and a trade show floor featuring 200+ Supplier Partners. (monthly, Sep-May)
  • H.O.M.E Program: The H.O.M.E. Room Committee oversees AAMD’s Hands-On Maintenance Education programming to ensure industry standards are being met.  (monthly)
  • TechCon:  TechCon, AAMD’s technology and innovation conference, is a premier event that brings together industry leaders, technology experts and innovators to explore the latest advancements and trends shaping the multifamily industry  (monthly, Oct-March)

 

Issue Related:

  • AAMD Alliance - The AAMD Alliance is an elite group of contributors in the multi-family housing industry that advocates for legislation, political candidates, and caucuses that benefit the multi-family housing industry. The Alliance is a platform to raise and distribute political funds and meets with elected officials and political leaders to encourage discussion to strengthen our industry's political position. (monthly, contribution required to attend)

  • Affordable Housing: The Affordable Housing Committee determines how AAMD can increase support and resources for Affordable housing providers/members  (quarterly)
  • Career Initiative: To attract, educate, and nurture new talent in the multifamily industry. We aim to create pathways for individuals to explore and pursue rewarding careers, ensuring a diverse and skilled workforce for the future through a variety of programs and opportunities.  (monthly)
  • Communications: The communications committee provides support in ad sales, content generation, and digital strategies for AAMD publications and communication mediums  (quarterly)
  • Hall of Fame - A small committee of AAMD Hall of Fame Members will create further benefits for HOF members and select new inductee(s)

  • Inclusion & Diversity: Established a mentor program to retain diverse, qualified talent, enhancing workforce diversity and promoting inclusive growth. (monthly)
  • Membership Development: Focus on building new member relationships (monthly)
  • Onsite Engagement: Works to encourage the employees from the properties to take advantage of benefits and be involved in AAMD.  (quarterly)
  • Public Relations - Shapes positive public perception, communicates CAA’s advocacy efforts effectively and fosters community engagement through strategic communication and media relations.

 

Charitable:

  • Apartments Giving Back Day:  A day of community service benefiting Family HomeStead and Warren Village where our members have the opportunity to give back by participating in a large-scale cleanup across multiple locations.  (monthly, Jan-Jun)
  • Charity Auction: AAMD’s Charity Auction is an event that benefits Apartments Giving Back and Family Homestead, a private non-profit agency, whose mission is to provide emergency and transition housing to Denver’s homeless families.  (monthly Sept-Dec)

 

Elected Councils & Committees

The following are councils in which individuals are elected to serve. 

  • Board of Directors - The role of the Board of Directors is to shape the strategic plan for maximum effectiveness.  This includes growing the membership, providing the resources to protect the industry, advancing educational programs and opportunities, creating quality industry information, promoting and attending AAMD events & functions, governing with general oversight, and supporting the staff.
  • Education Advisory Council - Engaging and empowering our multifamily community to ignite their passion for learning, maximize their professional and personal growth, and build high-performance teams by providing purpose, and shared knowledge through innovative training, and career path solutions.
  • Executive Committee - The role of the Executive Committee is to set policies and strategies into motion for maximum effectiveness of the organization.  This includes supporting the staff, providing financial oversight helping grow the Association, and protecting the Industry.
  • IROC (Independent Rental Owners Council) - The IROC Committee supports AAMD’s independent rental owners (IROs) which traditionally own 250 units or less.
  • JLAC (Joint Legislative Advisory Council) - Advocates for legislative policies that benefit landlords, navigating Colorado’s political landscape to protect property rights and housing affordability.
  • Networking Council - To create and deliver events, forums, and networking opportunities that enhance every member’s experience.  Also, to deliver and promote a high level of professionalism at all events.
  • Suppliers Council - Plan and execute monthly events from August-May designed for supplier-partner members that will allow them valuable networking opportunities, enhance their member experience, and ultimately grow their business.
