"BH Gives Back" During the Pandemic
At BH Management, we believe that what we do matters. We know the importance of giving back to our communities, helping those in need, and making a lasting impact that creates a better future for all of us.
That’s why BH created BH Gives Back, the company’s charitable initiative. Through BH Gives Back, we not only encourage every team member to volunteer and get involved with local charities, we provide paid time to do so because we know how important it is to take care of our communities, our cities, and our neighbors.
During the past five years, our teams have donated more than 15,000 hours to charities across the United States through BH Gives Back. With property locations in more than 20 states, the effects are far-reaching. Communities benefit from the time and talents that our teams donate, and teams are empowered by supporting organizations and causes that are meaningful to them.
This year, with the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, our communities needed our help more than ever. In Denver, our BH team at TAVA Waters wanted to support our residents, so we asked, “What can we do for you?”. We polled residents to see what the best use of BH Gives Back time and funds would be. The answer was unanimous: help the community’s children. Parents voiced their need for school supplies for their kids, and BH set out to help.
Partnering with Precious Child, a nonprofit centered around providing opportunities and resources to children challenged by poverty, abuse, neglect, or crisis situations, the team at TAVA Waters began the Fill-A-Backpack project. TAVA residents and employees held a two-week drive, and people showed up in a big way. Between boxes of community donations and an additional $750 donated by BH, we secured the needed supplies.
Next, our teams convened to assemble the donations. Despite obstacles caused by COVID-19, including rescheduling and relocating the donation assembly, Precious Child and BH filled 25 backpacks with school supplies and delivered them to families in need.
In addition to this year’s Fill-A-Backpack project, the TAVA team held its annual coat drive, which had record participation. Our teams were thrilled to donate 12 large bins of winter clothing to the Denver Rescue Mission. With a long-standing legacy of charitable work, the Denver Rescue Mission is committed to serving the homeless population, and we are proud to partner with them year after year to help our neighbors in need.
Beyond TAVA’s local initiatives, BH just completed our first company-wide United Way Campaign. The campaign was a major success, easily surpassing the $100K goal and raising $148,837 in employee contributions, money that will be invested into improving the lives of many people across the nation, including the Denver area.
Today, many individuals are just one flat tire or one emergency room visit away from crisis. That is why BH is going further in our commitment to give back to our communities and create a better future for each of us. We are committed to being good corporate citizens, and our culture is built around our promise to deliver excellence in every community, for every person, every day.
