Born & Raised:
I was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota and raised on a farm near the small town of Stratford, SD

Education Background:
Associates degree in Hospitality Management

Family / Pets:
Married for 34 years, two adult sons.

Favorite Food / Drink / Restaurant:
Tacos, Enchiladas, most Mexican dishes,  Margarita on the rocks with salt, Rio Grande (they make the best Margaritas)

Favorite Sport / Team:
Pittsburgh Steelers.  I grew up in an area without a professional sports team and then married a Steelers fan, so it just evolved from there.s

Hobbies:
Running, scuba diving and riding on our motorcycle.

Favorite Music:
Country – I love my Stetson Hat and Buckle (thanks Scott)

Favorite TV Show:
“This is Us”

What is Your Primary Goal as AAMD President?
More involvement from the on-site Team members.

Who has had the most influence in your life?
My Dad

If you weren't working in the apartment (or related) industry, what would you be doing? Living in the Caribbean, operating a Dive Shop – a girl can dream, right?

3 QUESTIONS FROM AAMD PAST PRESIDENT SCOTT KIRKWOOD

Scott: How did you get started in the industry?
Janelle: My husband and I moved to Colorado from South Dakota and while searching for an apartment I was inspired by the leasing consultant and said, “I could do that” It’s all history from there.

Choosing anyone in history, who would you like to have lunch with and why?
Winston Churchill.  An inspirational leader and a distant cousin of mine through my great-grandmother.

Where is your favorite place to visit?
The Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.
