Remembering Carol Levey
Carol Levey (1946-2022) was one of the most uniquely powerful and warm hearted individuals I’ve ever known. She was a force for education in the apartment industry and touched tens of thousands of industry professionals during her 50+ year career. Carol’s impact on our local apartment association was ever lasting with so, so many seminars, designation programs, and special presentations she made over four decades! She was always there when we needed her, and always volunteered her services for AAMD.
Carol elevated AAMD and NAA to develop career programs for both organizations. She was instrumental in introducing our industry to the Virginia Tech Real Estate / Property Management Program - a first for the industry. She was also involved in NAA's Education and Government Affairs departments and was a frequent speaker at NAA events for decades.
Carol was among the first group of leaders inducted into the AAMD Hall of Fame in 2016 – having been involved in nearly every area of the Association as an on-site manager and Supplier Partner. She authored “Miss Management” in Apartment Trends and taught education seminars for over 40 years. Her distinctive style was funny, captivating, honest and always keenly to the root of the issue making her message unforgettable.
Carol’s warmth and generosity was deep and sincere, she was built around lifting people up. Anytime I was with her, she always had a compliment for me or one of our AAMD staff. She was one of kind and will always live in our memory.
A Celebration of Carol's Life is being planned for this Fall. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude as Carol supported the foundation wholeheartedly.
